Come to the annual joint SACA/ADC "Slides Under the Stars" event and get a chance to see old friends, new ones, enjoy fabulous desserts and listen to a presentation by Kurt Weiser.
Kurt is an internationally renowned ceramist, most well known in the last ten years for his china-painted porcelain pots
The centuries-old tradition of china paint on porcelain is transformed through Kurt’s hands into lush jungle scenes and sumptuous narratives. Many people find them both alluring and unsettling. His work is featured in the Smithsonian Institution, many other US museums, and in Canada, Finland, Japan, Taiwan and England. You can see his artwork featured at Frank Lloyd Gallery, www.franklloyd.com.
He will present a slide retrospective of his work on Friday, May 7, 7:00 pm at the annual joint meeting of Southern Arizona Clay Artists and Arizona Designer Craftsmen. Those of you who have seen his work in person or in publications know how fascinating it is, and this May 7th meeting promises to be excellent.
Everyone bring a flashlight and a chair, SACA members bring desserts, ADC provides wine and other beverages.
Directions to Karen's Home: 5354 N Sundown Drive.
From the intersection of Swan and Sunrise, go east on Sunrise to the next traffic light at Suncrest. Turn right (south), then take the first right -- Sundown Drive. Go up the hill and curve around to the left. Where the road seems to end at the wall of mailboxes, turn left to the third house on the right. There is a seated Buddha in the driveway circle. More parking in the lower drive, along the one-lane road, and along Suncrest and Sundown.
On behalf of ADC I give a special thanks to Karen for both hosting and organizing this event.
