Cabochon Bezel Making is the first in a series of Stone Setting Workshops. This being the beginning Sam will start with his special techniques using a non-calibrated cabochon making a pendant.
BIO: In 2000 the Smithsonian Renwick Gallery honored three generations of Patanias by displaying and purchasing bracelets from Sam, his father Pancho, and his grandfather Frank Sr. In the April 2012 issue of Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artist "Sam Patania - Longevity of Western Style" was featured in TREND article, "Western Style - Celebrating the Heritage of the American Southwest" by Deborah Yonich. Sam's work is described as "American Classic - simple elegance, strong in construction and simple in design". Sam's artistic vision spans three generations: "I see longevity in design and construction and seek to continue that part of the Patania tradition.Patania's innovative designs reveal haute couture aesthetic of Western style using hydraulic press techniques to improve small scale production focusing on turquoise being a specialty enhanced with more precious metals, colored precious and semi-precious gemstones.
