Learn the technique of etching through metal to achieve a three-dimensional layered quality. This design oriented exploration of 3-D etching introduces skills and resources for creativity when working with metal.

Learn to combine images to create a small layered jewel, assembled with miniature screws and nuts. Introduction covers step-by step methods for table etching and spray etching to completely pierce through sheets of copper based alloys. Finally, learn some patina techniques.

Carol will bring an assortment of artwork for students since our time is limited to two days.

BIO: Carol is a studio artist from California. She teaches workshops at Revere Academy (CA), Houston Metal Arts Guild (TX), Arrowmont (TN), Denver School of Metal Arts (CO); Peters Valley (NJ). Exhibitions: Renwick Gallery (DC), Smithsonian Crafts Show (DC), Society of Arts & Crafts (Boston), National Ornamental Museum (Memphis), and Velvet da Vinci , (San Francisco).
