This class is a treasure trove of tips and tricks accumulated over 34 years of metalsmithing to help you solder better, faster and neater in every situation. Get a quick refresher on your Heat Zone techniques and then take it two steps farther in Heat Zone 2. This demo packed workshop will show efficient production methods as well as solutions to problems like soldering bezels to heavily textured surfaces, gold bezels and balls onto silver, dealing with twisted wire, holding and protecting delicate parts, chains, prongs, soldering onto curved surfaces, blind seams, and hinges. Torch selection and fuel types will also be discussed. As usual, many tips and tricks will be shown to ensure your soldering success.
BIO: Helen Blythe-Hart, Inventor of the acclaimed Heat Zone Soldering Method. She has been practicing her metal artistry for over 27 years and teaching students for 15 years. She has won numerous awards in this country and her work has been collected nationally and internationally. Helen specializes in sterling and glass sculptures with a futuristic edge. She loves to combine natural stones, patterned gold and silver to create lushly extravagant jewelry. Her degrees include an MFA in Sculpture and Metals from Georgia State University and she is a Certified Graduate Gemologist (GIA).
