Scott Cole has been making innovative kaleidoscopes for more than 15 years. His work has been exhibited throughout the U.S. and has been featured on television and in several books and magazines. He enjoys teaching and has conducted many workshops: Penland, John Campbell Folk School and in Thailand. His home and Laughing Eye Studios are in North Carolina.

This workshop is designed for those who want to learn a range of skills in the construction and design of artistic kaleidoscopes. No previous experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn, have fun, and create. Learn glass, mirror, and lens cutting, glass flameworking, and kaleidoscope assembly methods. More advanced skills include designing mirror con¬figurations, oil suspensions, and alternative object chambers. Also explored will be the aesthetic considerations in making exceptional kaleidoscopes.
