Keumboo and More!

Keumboo is an 11th century Korean technique that combines gold and silver to create beautiful surfaces and patterns. This three day workshop explores the traditions of Keumboo with a variety of techniques including patterning, fabrication and combining with argentium silver to create a wide variety of earrings, rings and chains.

  • Day One will be devoted to all of the ways to use Keumboo. Make gold foil, apply it and combine Keumboo with embossing, stamping and solder inlay. Students will be encouraged to design unique earrings from hoops to posts, with and without gems and stones. This intensive applies technique with design discussion and challenges to make a variety of unusual earrings.
  • Day Two will focus on completion of pieces and combining them with argentium silver. Demonstrations will include fusing, adding frames and rims and making rings.
  • Day Three will focus on neckpieces and chains. Tips and tricks for fabrication, adding texture and adding gold to small surface areas.
