Diane Egbert: Expanding Horizons in Metalsmithing

Jewelry designer/goldsmith Diane Egbert will bring a new perspective to studio production. A BFA from Syracuse University and study with Heikki Seppa and Michael Good has brought Diane to the University of New Mexico then to Tucson in the early '90's. With a stint at Haystack Mountain School, Deer Isle, Maine Ms. Egbert is now persuing design in the 21st century.

She writes; "...with the development of 3D computer-generated design, technology brings yet another vocabulary and skillset to this already innovative art. As a metalsmith, always interested in surface texture and hollowform jewelry, using the computer has allowed me to develop and create designs that until recently I was unable to achieve. This, coordinated with a milling machine, to carve out my designs in wax, I am able to put into a substantive form what I visualize."
