In the past year Eleanor Moty, our "Patron Saint of Jewelry Workshops", has revealed her recent works. The following is a quote from an article: "Eleanor Moty: Romancing the Stone" by Marjorie Simon in Metalsmith magazine, vol.32, 2012.               "Considered a "founding mother" of American studio jewelry, Moty has a career that has been well documented. A graduate of the University of Illinois and Tyler School of Art, she has created a body of work represented in permanent collections in major American museums and in countless national and international exhibitions, as well as in craft and art publications reaching back over forty years, including most jewelry textbooks.A Fellow of the American Craft Council and soon-to-be Master Metalsmith at the Metal Museum in memphis, she has been a longtime member of the board of trustees at Haystack and is the recipent of numerous honors, awards, and fellowships. In 1998 SNAG commissioned her to make a commemorative piece honoring Oppi Untracht as Honorary Fellow/Lifetime Achievement Award. She now lives in tucson, having retired from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, after 28 years of teaching."
