Plique-A-Jour, the "tour-de-force" of enameling techniues, is a fabulous way to reproduce stained glass in miniature. As it is both a jeweler's and enamelist's technique, students will learn both metal and enameling skills necessary to complete a small pendant.
Jewelry and metal skills will include piercing, sawing, filing, and sanding of fine silver sheet. Enameling skills will include grading, washing, wet packing/inlaying (as used in the plique-a-jour technique, ) firing, and finishing, Students will be working on a pair of pierced plique-a-jour earrings or pendant.
BIO: Specializing in plique-a-jour enameling, Diane Almeyda's award winning work has been in numerous exhibitions since 1999. She now shares her expertise teaching workshops across the United States. Her works have been published in several magazines and books:
